Slavsko Ski Resort

Currently the most popular of all the Carpathian ski resorts, it offers a number of
good facilities to tourists. Located around Mount Trostyan (900m to 1230m in elevation) , it benefits
from having a good number of ski lifts plus a wide range of ski runs for all levels of skiers- from beginners
to pros.
Slopes vary from 700m to a good 2000m in length.
The resort is spread out over 5 mountains.
If you want to ski in peace on uncrowded slopes, then the slopes on Mount Gabrovets will suit you.
There is a ski lift here and the ski runs are 850m.

Mounts Politekh and Pagor are located in the heart of the
resort are 450m and 650m respectively.
Ski lifts are here and the runs here are popular with people of all skills.
Mount Trosyan is famous for its abundance of good quality
runs and caters excellently for beginners to pros. It is an imposing 2500m in height and it is located at the
edge of the resort. There are ski lifts available.
Mount Krokus is similar to Mount Gabrovets since it is
less crowded than other areas of Slavsko. The runs here are of a good quality and the Mount is 1050m.
The ski lifts are only opened on the week end.
After skiing, many tourists prefer to visit Slavsko’s
great value and good quality restaurants, many of which have been designed in traditional wooden alpine style.
They offer good service and have a nice atmosphere.
Again, as with many places in the Carpathians,
the summer time is equally stunning. The area consists of miles of forested and unspoilt mountain
countryside and if you’re looking to relax, but not be completely away from civilisation,
then the Slavsko region is definitely recommended. The expansive countryside is only broken up by some
quaint traditional villages and small farms.
Location
Slavsko is very conveniently located on the
Kiev-Uzzhorod rail road. Or you can drive 120km from the large town of Lviv to get there.
One way by train from Lviv and it
costs a maximum of 2.5 USD.
Bus transport from Lviv costs 3 USD
return and leaves every Saturday and Sunday from the main railway station at 8:00 am.
Or you can hire a taxi which normally
costs around 45 USD one way.

Visitors to Slavsk will soon become aware that a building boom is going on. Many new chalets and a number hotels are being built in the area, with new developments planned, including an apartment complex. The number of ski lifts is also being expanded and general improvements to infrastructure. Out of the ski season, this may result in making driving around the resort a frustrating experience as roads can be obstructed by builder’s vehicles. However, as building is restricted to the non snowy months, those visiting in mid winter will be largely unaffected.
